When Authouart was a child, he made a promise to himself - "When I grow up, I will buy a Jaguar XK-120 and I will drive it every day."
Now that he is an adult, it is not so easy to obtain this car. Most are in museums or belong to private collectors.
Even still, in his head, in his dreams, the XK-120 is always traveling along the seaside, driven by the likes of old time movie stars. The characters on the roadside in this picture are from 1950's detective novels. In the background we see a cafe - an homage to the famous Nighthawks piece by Edward Hopper. Hopper was a great influence and inspiration to Authouart.
This is the first in a series of six images entitled Voitures de Rêves.
Les Voitures de Rêves:
La Jag
Une Cadillac pour Marilyn
Dolce Vita (Ferrari)
La Mercedes du Casino
Thnunderbird
Le Privé et la Mustang
