Thriller is a tribute to detective novels and the film noire of the forties and fifties.
A crime has been committed and we see the victim off to the left under a plant. A man stands near the hotel entrance taking in the whole scene. Just behind the victim is a witness to the crime, or is it perhaps the perpetrator? Is that Sidney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre? Lauren Bacall, the perennially cool blond, casts a knowing glance in their direction. The detective, Humphrey Bogart, takes charge as the investigation begins.
When in the United States, Authouart is constantly sketching. When he returns to Europe, the sketches become the studies for much of his work. He made the sketches for the interior of this hotel while in New York City in 1987 and for the car and palm trees while in Los Angeles in 1989.
Thriller is the fourth piece in the series of six:
Myths & Legends:
M&L#1 Bus Stop
M&L#2 On Abbey Road Corner
M&L#3 East of Eden
M&L#4 Thriller
M&L#5 Times Square
